You are doing a bathroom remodeling in Novato and you do not know what faucet to choose for your sink? Choosing the right faucet can save you lots of stress. First of all, a faucet is a long term investment. If do not want to have problems with noise, water dripping troubles or with handles, you should choose quality ones. Changing them often is a waste of money: you have to buy new one and pay the plumber every time. I do not think that is a good deal on a long term basis.

Faucets should be compatible with the sink or bathtub. First, you have to decide where it will be mounted: on the sink or on the wall. Faucets mounted on the sink can be:

1. Single hole faucets

2. Center set faucets

3. Widespread faucets.

Any of these faucets has advantages and disadvantages. In this Hub I will write about both advantages and disadvantages of any of these faucet types to help you choose wisely the faucets you need.

WALL MOUNTED FAUCETS

They are mounted inside the wall and mounting them is pretty messy. Your plumber has to do an excellent work when it will be mounted because any reparation will cost you dearly: breaking the wall to get to the pipes.

I can see now that I’ve started with disadvantages, but these faucets have advantages too:

  • save space on the sink – suitable for small bathrooms
  • stain harder and are easy to clean because they do not get in direct contact with water
  • can be installed at varying heights
  • the overall design is impressive

SINK MOUNTED FAUCETS

These conventional faucets are easy to install and plumbers can easily fix in case there are some problems with them. But there are disadvantages too:

  • no space savers
  • harder to clean
  • germs are more likely to spread on this type of faucets because they get in direct contact with water
  • have a standard height that cannot be modified

In the next part of the Hub I will explain why faucets and sinks have to be compatible. Not all faucets work with every sink basin; there are single hole faucets, center set faucets and widespread faucets.

1. SINGLE HOLE FAUCETS

  • The best space savers among sink mounted faucets
  • Require one hole drilling
  • In most cases, they have a single handle – combine hot and cold water with only one gesture

2. CENTER SET FAUCETS

  • Conventional faucets
  • Require three hole drilling
  • They have two handles

3. WIDESPREAD FAUCETS

  • No space savers – you might not be able to put something else on the sink because of their spread
  • Require three hole drilling
  • They have two handles

Bathroom Faucets in Novato

As you can see, any of these faucets has its own advantages and disadvantages. You should choose the one that is most convenient to you. If you do a bathroom remodeling plan in Novato take care to take them into account before you start the project. If you want wall mounted faucet you will have to talk with the plumber before you paint the walls or install ceramic tiles. Every detail in bathroom remodeling plan matters sooner or later.

Great overview of the basic things to look for!

Another thing to keep in mind on quality is choosing the right place to buy faucets. Many of the home improvement stores sell the same model as other distributers, but the inner working pieces are of inferior quality. Buying from the right place will prevent leaks and damage in the future.
